Questions

Frequently asked

Do I need a stove?+

No. Every meal is cold-soak ready. Add water, zip the bag, shake, and let it sit until fully rehydrated. Hot water works if you have it, but you never need a stove or fuel.

How do I prepare a meal?+

Open the pouch, add the amount of water listed on the label, zip it shut, shake, and wait 10 to 15 minutes. Eat straight out of the bag.

What comes in the Tasting Box?+

Five meals for a two-night, three-day trip: two dinners, two breakfasts, and a lunch. Apple Peanut Butter Oats, Breakfast Sausage Hash, Chickpea Masala, Beef Stroganoff, and Chicken Tortilla Soup. 2,700 calories and 128 grams of protein, 597 grams packed.

What about allergens?+

Each product page lists that meal's allergens, transcribed off the printed label on the pouch. Everything is made in a shared commercial kitchen that also handles milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, and sesame, so cross-contact is possible but we do everything we can to limit risk.

How long do the meals keep?+

Every meal carries a best-by date one year from the day it was packaged. If the packaging gets damaged or the seal is compromised, eat it right away.

Are the bags safe to use with boiling water?+

Yes. The manufacturer rates our bags as safe with boiling water.

Can I order outside of the United States?+

Not yet. Cascade Alpine ships within the United States only, because of how strict international food regulations are.
